FORT WORTH – TCU Soccer stays as hot as the Texas sun downing the first place Oklahoma State Cowgirls 1-0 Sunday afternoon.
It was a hot one in Fort Worth, on the first day of October. Temperatures reached 90 plus degrees requiring multiple hydration breaks Sunday afternoon. The elements didn’t deter the Frogs as they were able to win their fifth straight game.
AJ Hennessey got the lone goal of the afternoon in the 16th minute when Oli Peña incepted a pass and found Hennessey was able to find some space and drill a shot from 20 yards out.
“Oli Peña played me a ball and she was like “you have plenty of time, turn and shoot it,”” Hennessey said. “I took the touch and I was I can hit this, and I went for it!”
That would be all TCU needed Sunday afternoon, riding their defense the rest of the way to get the win
“Another hard-fought Sunday match in the heat,” coach Eric Bell said. “I’ve been waiting for the weather to break and it hasn’t, which is making it really, really hard in these 1 p.m. Sunday matches. I’m really proud of our group. We fought and got a really good goal by AJ (Hennessey) and saw the game out to the end.”
