TCU center Eddie Lampkin has entered the transfer portal, a team official confirmed to Frogs Today on Monday morning.
Lampkin averaged 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over the course of his career at TCU, which spanned three seasons. In his final two, Lampkin started 51 games at center, quickly becoming known for his special relationship with TCU’s student section and his emotional, high-energy style of play.
Lampkin, a sophomore, did not travel with the team to Kansas City for the Big 12 tournament, having stepped away for personal reasons. TCU advanced to the semifinals where they fell to Texas, 66-60.
Once reports of Lampkin’s departure from the team began surfacing, Lampkin posted screenshots of several text messages that seemed to accuse head coach Jamie Dixon of mistreatment and of making racial remarks.
Multiple sources – both inside TCU’s program and outside of it – refuted Lampkin’s claims and spoke to Dixon’s character.
TCU is set to play the winner of Arizona State/Nevada in the round of 64 in the NCAA tournament on Friday night.
