Max Duggan was everywhere Saturday.
The senior quarterback, in his 32nd career start, accounted for 418 yards and five touchdowns against Oklahoma, leading the Horned Frogs to a 55-24 victory over the no. 18 Sooners. The Frogs are 4-0 for the first time since 2017 and earned their first victory over Oklahoma since 2014.
Duggan ran for a 67-yard touchdown in the first quarter, the second-longest touchdown run of his career. In that first 15 minutes, he also threw for 151 yards and two scores, as the Frogs jumped out to a 27-10 lead. He would exit the game in the fourth quarter having thrown for 302 yards and three touchdowns and run for two more scores on 116 yards. It was his fourth career 100+ yard rushing game.
For his efforts, Duggan was named Walter Camp National Player of the Week on offense. He is the 11th TCU player to earn the honor and the first since Mat Boesen in 2017.
Duggan is the first quarterback since 2016 to have both a throwing and rushing touchdowns of over 60 yards in the first quarter of a game, matching Lamar Jackson’s feat that year. He is tied for 10th all-time in rushing touchdowns at TCU with 21 and rose to fourth in career passing yards with 6,917.
The national leader in passing efficiency with a rating of 202.2, Duggan is also third in completion percentage at 74.5%. He has thrown for 997 yards through four games this season with 11 touchdowns despite playing four quarters just once.
TCU will put their unbeaten record on the line Saturday when they visit Lawrence, Kansas to take on the 5-0 Jayhawks. College GameDay will be onsite for this battle between undefeated Big 12 teams.
