FORT WORTH – It was a 23rd birthday to remember for TCU Volleyball’s number 23.

Melanie Parra recorded 23 kills in TCU’s three set sweep over Texas A&M Commerce to kick off the Fight in the Fort Tournament.

The 23 kills broke a school record for most kills in a three set match held by Amy Atamanczuk who recorded 22 in a win against SFA in 2000.

Parra followed that up with a 17 kill performance in match number two on the day against Prairie View A&M, also a three set sweep from the Frogs.

“I feel very excited”, Parra said. “The record is 23 and that’s my number, and I feel great about it”.

Jalyn Gibson continued her strong play in both games amassing double-digit kills in both matches.

The Frogs are back in action Friday night as they prepare to take on another Big 10 team, UCLA. It will be the fourth Big 10 team that TCU has faced this season. First serve is schedule for 6:30 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena and can be seen on ESPN +.
