FORT WORTH – After a grueling duel with No.1 BYU on Thursday that saw TCU Soccer battle to a 3-3 draw, would there be a let down with Stephen F. Austin coming to town?
TCU quickly answered that question.
The Frogs raced out to an early lead and never looked back winning 3-1 over the Lumberjacks.
The scoring got started in the eighth minute on free kick set piece. Remini Tillotson from about 40 yards served the ball into the box finding Gracie Brian’s head who then buried in the back of the net for the goal. This was Brian’s team leading fourth goal of the season.
Two minutes later on a shot that hit off the crossbar and bounce back into play perfectly found Oli Peña’s head and she was able to bury it in the back of the net giving the Frogs a 2-0 lead.
In the 55th minute a Gracie Brian shot was saved by the Lumberjack keeper, on the rebound the SFA defender tried to clear the ball and found Camryn Lancaster’s tummy and she was able to use her abs to put the ball in the goal.
“It was nice to get a good result against a quality opponent. Sunday’s are always a grind,” coach Eric Bell said. “We came out, set the tone early. We were able to get a couple goals in the first and stood up in the second half. It was good to see Camry (Lancaster) get on the board today and hopefully that propels her forward.”
