FORT WORTH – TCU played their final home game of the 2023 season Tuesday night, defeating the Texas State Bobcats 8-2.
This could also have been star third baseman Brayden Taylor’s final game at Lupton.
The potential first round draft pick in this summer’s MLB draft dazzled the home crowd with his specular defense at the hot corner. Taylor was able to gather in hard hit ground ball that took an awkward bounce off of him and throw the runner out. Later in the game with the Bobcats threatening, Taylor fielded a hot shot down the line ground ball just past third to start a 5-4-3 double play.
In his final at bat of the evening, Taylor almost gave the home crowd one last magical moment when he launched a ball down the right field line that had the distance for a home run, but went just foul. Even though Taylor ended up flying out, the crowd of 4,467 gave him a standing ovation.
