AUSTIN — Ray Benson sang the National Anthem on Wednesday night at the Moody Center, but it was TCU that was asleep at the wheel defensively in the second half.
TCU led by as many as 18 points but couldn’t get the stops it needed late, falling to No. 10 Texas 79-75.
After a brilliant first half that saw the Frogs get out to a 40-22 lead and hold a 42-29 edge at halftime, TCU was outscored 50-33 in the second half. Texas shot 59.4 percent and got to the rim at will, while the Frogs relaxed defensively and settled for contested shots.
Emanuel Miller led all scorers with 21 points, including 12 in the second half as the Horned Frogs tried to hold on to their lead.
