AUSTIN – In the bowels of Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, Johnny Hodges talked about chips.

Not the kind you eat while you’re watching the game, but the kind you place directly on your shoulder when you feel the world has slighted you.

“I think everyone on our defense has a little chip, a little something to prove,” Hodges said. “That’s what’s making us play really good team defense.”

Hodges earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in TCU’s 17-10 win over Texas, one of several standout performances defensively for the Frogs on Saturday night.

The Frogs as a defensive unit proved something to the nation in the win, holding Texas to three points on offense while keeping the Longhorns to record lows in yardage.
