FORT WORTH – In a battle for west Texas bragging rights, round one went decisively to TCU.

The Frogs broke out their brooms, sweeping Texas Tech 25-16, 25-12, 25-22 to earn the 3-0 victory.

Riley Buckley was key for the Frogs recording 34 assists and 9 digs in the three set win.

Melanie Parra keeps making the extraordinary look ordinary as she contributed 17 kills, eight digs, three blocks, and four service aces in the match. The four aces ties a season high for Parra. With the 17 kills that’s now 9 straight games with double digit kills.

TCU was without their leading blocker, Brianna Green, Thursday night. Sarah Sylvester stepped up in her absence recording eight blocks on the night.

“Super proud of the effort,” coach Jason Williams said. “Really good on the defensive side. Sarah Sylvester with eight blocks in three sets is pretty great. I felt we put a lot of pressure on their offense they were having a hard time trying to find kills. We had a better flow on offense tonight.”
