FORT WORTH – They’re not always going to be pretty, but they still count the same in the win column. TCU survives Iowa State rally winning in five sets to take the match 3-2.

With the win, TCU improves to 16-5 on the year and 8-3 in conference play.

The Frogs jumped out to 2-0 lead on the Cyclones in behind strong efforts from Jalyn Gibson and Evan Hendrix.

Iowa State rallied in the third and fourth sets to tie match at two a piece. Cyclones turned up the pressure defensively on the Frogs and started limiting the errors that had plagued them the first two sets.

The hallmark of a good team is finding a way to gut out a win, even when you are not playing your best. That is exactly what the Frogs did Friday night once the match got to a fifth set. TCU hit a blistering .522 in the final set securing the set 15-11.

On a night where TCU’s superstar, Melanie Parra was off, Gibson rose to the occasion.

Gibson finishes with a career high 26 kills on only 49 swings. As if that wasn’t enough, Gibson added 17 digs as well in the winning effort.

Hendrix, a freshman, got her first start of the season and did not disappoint. Hendrix finished the match with 13 kills, a career high, and 12 digs. That is the first of what Frog fans hope is many double-doubles for the promising freshman.

Setter Lily Nicholson was steady as they go recording 50 assists in the match. This is the sixth time this season that Nicholson has hit the 50 assist mark for the Frogs.

TCU now enjoys some time off, as their next match isn’t until Thursday November 7th when UCF comes to Fort Worth.
