FORT WORTH — Talk about living the dream.
Gunnar Henderson already thought he was doing that when he woke up Saturday morning as a walk-on wide receiver at TCU.
After the third spring practice, the dream got even better.
Henderson, all 5-foo-9 and 165 pounds of him, was awarded with a full scholarship Saturday afternoon, with coach Sonny Dykes’ staff aided by a TCU police officer after practice.
The officer said he needed to speak with Henderson about his truck, and was called to the front of the team huddle. That’s when the officer dropped the truth about the scholarship.
Henderson’s teammates mobbed him. A transfer from Incarnate Word, Henderson played in all 12 TCU games last season and has worked with the second-team offense so far in spring practices.
