TCU will have a new starting quarterback in 2023. That was always likely the case, but was made official Sunday afternoon when Max Duggan declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Duggan’s departure leaves a significant void, and the race to fill it will include at least three, if not more, names. Coach Sonny Dykes addressed how TCU is going to approach the quarterback position moving forward, but not before he paid Duggan his due.

“Max did what Max always does, he tried to think about the team first,” Dykes said. “When he sat down to figure out his timeline to figure out whether or not he was going to come back and when he was going to announce it, he probably made the decision a little more quickly than he wanted to in some ways. He just wanted to do everything he could to help take care of the program and give us the best option moving forward.”

With Duggan’s decision in hand, Dykes and his staff now have the hard work of finding a starter for the 2023 season.
