TCU Women’s Basketball improves to 15-4 and 2-6 in the Big12 with a 66-60 win over UCF. After 2 cancelled games due to season ending injuries to Jaden Owens and DaiJa Turner and additional injuries to Sedona Prince and Madison Conner, the Frogs held open-tryouts picking up TCU Volleyball star, Sarah Sylvester and 3 other walk-ons, Piper Davis (Boise, Idaho), Ella Hamlin (Granbury, TX), and Mekhayia Moore (Brownsboro, TX).
The Frogs led by as much as 16 in the 1st half but were down 5 with 8 minutes to play in the game. With double digit points by Aaliyah Roberson (17), Sydney Harris (14), Una Jovanovic (11), and Agnes Emma-Nnopu (10), they led TCU to a 5 point win padded by a 27 point 1st quarter performance. Also to note, Jovanovic was a +18 and Emma-Nnopu a +12.
Emma-Nnopu drained 5 free throws at the end of the game and Victoria Flores got 3 boards, 2 steals, and a fast break lay-up for a 62-60 lead the Horned Frogs would never give up.
What a week it has been for TCU Head Coach, Mark Campbell trying to rebuild a team that he just started building in the spring. We hear from Roberson, Emma-Nnopu, and Sarah Sylvester as well as UCF head coach, Sytia Messer.
