Core Values is a big part of the TCU Baseball “brand” pushing them through being down 9-2 yesterday and 10-4 this afternoon. Start strong and finish strong is what was needed to secure 2 comeback wins, in consecutive days.
They secured the series win with a 13-10 win today on another superior performance from Peyton Chatagnier, the Ole Miss transfer, who got the #5 ranked Frogs on the board with his first 2 at-bats in back to back home run fashion and Payton Tolle registered 3 RBIs.
Through 2 innings the Frogs were up 2-0 and the middle innings saw TCU in the hole, 10-4 until the 6th when freshman, Chase Brunson homering to left field, driving in 2 runs to cut the lead to 4.
Then the magic happened again and by the time the 8th inning was over, the Frogs were ahead 13-10.
Luke Boyers went yard at the Top of the 8th. Logan Maxwell, Karson Bowen, and Brunson all got on base with Kurtis Byrne singling to drive in 2 runs. Tolle stepped up to the plate to hit a 3-run home run to put the Frogs up 12-10. Anthony Silva got on base and Boyers got a chance to bat again in the inning singling to left, driving in Silva.
Braeden Sloan and Ben Abeldt took the mound the final 2 innings and shut the door, surrendering no runs and finishing the game for the Frogs.
Tolle and Chatagnier spoke about the crazy opening days of the 2024 season.
Game 3 versus Florida Gulf Coast is Sunday afternoon, at 12:30 p.m. Zack Morris will make his TCU debut on the mound.
